Vic + Flo Saw a Bear
- long

Vic dreams of a quiet life with her lover. The simple pleasure of a vegetable garden and a plastic wading pool turns out to be short lived, when the past threatens to come knocking.
The title of the film sounds like a children’s book. Director Denis keeps things simple and feeds us bite-sized pieces of information. Victoria, or Vic, rolls her suitcase through the forest. She moves into the home of her old, paralysed uncle. Too bad that annoying probation officer keeps coming round to remind her of her life sentence. Girlfriend Flo(rence) livens things up at the local bar, but along with that come jealousy and arguments. Côté surprises with a few Tarantino-like twists. The forest turns out to be a bad place to play hide and seek with your past… With its beautiful camera work underneath the Canadian canopy of leaves, the sparse information and a heavy drum, Vic + Flo Saw a Bear becomes a love story with a threatening undertone. Cuddle up nice and safe underneath your Pluk blanket.
