Lonely longing and silent reproach: there are loads of tensions simmering in this short drama by Portuguese duo André Santo and Marco Laeo. The emotional layers get peeled away slowly in the relationship between a single mother and her twentysomething son.
Pedro meets his mother early in the morning, whilst she is getting ready to go to the beach. The scene encapsulates a relationship between two people with seperate lives that live under the same roof. However, Pedro’s mother wants her son to take her to the beach and keep her company there. Mother and son each have an erotic encounter at the beach, which in their contrast illustrate how differently they experience their passion. An intense drama, where glances reveal more than the minimal dialogue.
