Lucky
Life is not a box of chocolates. And happiness comes in tiny packages, and sometimes it doesn’t come at all. Lucky follows the trials and tribulations of Lucky the horse. Sure, it starts off looking like something out of a happy child’s colouring book, but things quickly take a dark turn, and end up hurtling headlong into the pitfalls of trauma and existential dread.
The happy and naïve world of children and their colourful frankness reminds us of our own childhood. Lucky quickly turns this world upside down to reveal fear, darkness and just a glimmer of hope for a better tomorrow. But daydreaming about better times won’t keep the stifling everyday away. This short serves as a warning.
