When will the 2022 festival take place?
The open air film festival in Amsterdam will take place from August 17 till August 27 2022 at the Stenen Hoofd. The edition in Utrecht will take place from August 31 till September 4 2022. Location of the festival in Utrecht will be announced soon.
What time does the movie start?
As soon as it starts to get dark, around 9.00 p.m. the film programme starts. We always start with some interactive games on the big screen and a short movie. The feature film starts around 9.30 p.m.
When will the programme be announced?
Around August 1 2022. We are very busy finalising the programme.
Is there another edition for the little ones?
Certainly, Pluk MINI will take place on Sunday afternoon, August 21 from 2 pm at the Stenen Hoofd in Amsterdam. Admission free! We also organise a film night for kids from 9+ and screen Where the Wild Things are on Augustus 26 (English spoken, Dutch subtitles). And a movie night for 12+ on Saturday August 27, then we will screen Mean Girls. Both screenings take place indoors, in the Pluktent.
What are the opening hours?
The festival site with bar/terrace and its art installations open every day at 6 p.m. In weekends (and in warm weather) possibly a little earlier, keep an eye on our socials. During Pluk MINI on August 21 we start at 2 p.m.
What does a ticket cost?
Tickets cost 11.50 for a comfortable beach chair and include a drink (beer, wine, coffee, tea and soft drink). You can also swing by and try to find a seat on the terrace, the film experience will not be the same though. Pluk MINI is free of charge. The film nights for the youth cost 5 euro including a soft drink. Please note: you can’t pay cash (pin only) at Pluk de Nacht.
How can I buy a ticket?
You can reserve a seat online once the programme is announced beginning of August. You simply make a reservation by indicating your city and date. It is also possible to rent a blanket on site (pin only). It is much appreciated if you return the chair and blanket after the movie.
What kind of movies can I expect?
The films we show at Pluk de Nacht are often successful at major international film festivals, but usually do not reach Dutch cinemas. Pluk de Nacht shows remarkable feature films, beautiful documentaries, animations and short films that have never been shown in the Netherlands or have only reached a small audience.
And if it rains?
The show will go on, even when it rains. When it rains cats and dogs – it’s wise to bring a raincoat of umbrella π – we will also screen the film indoors, in the Pluktent. In extreme weather conditions there is a chance that the performance will be canceled (not happened before), safety is paramount!
What languages ββand subtitles are used?
The films are in English or have English subtitles. The movie descriptions indicate the language in which the movie is spoken and/or subtitled.
Can I bring my dog/cat?
Yes, that is allowed if it is not too large, is kept on a leash and does not disturb the film.
How can I support Pluk de Nacht?
You can reserve a seat and by buying a beer at the bar you also help the festival. You can also follow Pluk on Facebook and Instagram or by subscribing to the newsletter (Dutch only).
Is there something to eat and drink?
Yes but don’t expect elaborate meals. Pluk de Nacht provides a full bar and there are also lots of tasty snacks available. Please note: you can only pay by card at the bar.
Can I bring something myself?
Keep in mind that Pluk de Nacht can only exist if visitors buy a snack or drink at the bar. If you decide to bring your own, please clean up the trash.
Can I bring my children?
Sure, but check whether the film is suitable for your offspring because they are obviously not selected for kids. On Sunday 21 August we are organising a special afternoon for children in Amsterdam: Pluk MINI, on Fridaynight August 26 we organise a movie night for 9+ and on Saturday August 27 for 12+. Check out the programme.
Where can I find Pluk de Nacht?
Pluk de Nacht has been taking place since the first edition in Amsterdam on the Stenen Hoofd, an old pier in the former harbor area on the IJ in Amsterdam West. In Utrecht the exact location will be announced soon.
Where can I park my bicycle?
Bicycle racks have been placed on and around the festival site. Please do not place your bicycle outside these racks, and certainly not in front of the entrance to the festival site.
Is there anything else I should know?
Pluk de Nacht expects nothing more from you than some common sense. Safety is of course very important, so we keep emergency exits clear and fires are only possible in the fire pits we have available on site. We also really appreciate it if you put empty bottles in the crates, throw waste in the appropriate bins and return beach chairs.
When was the festival founded?
Pluk was founded 20 years ago by a couple of friends with a great love for film. The aim is to let as many people as possible enjoy films that were not released in the Netherlands or that have only reached a small audience.
How important are the volunteers?
Very very important! Without volunteers no festival. From the early days Pluk has been organised and realised by a large group of volunteers who put all their creativity and energy into the festival. From a week before the festival, the location will be swept clean and transformed into an atmospheric festival site. For a few years now, Pluk can not only be found in Amsterdam, but also in Utrecht.
